Is Virginity a gift ?
Somethings need to leave my chest.
This morning was slow, one of those quiet ones where my thoughts wandered as my fingers mindlessly doom-scrolled through Substack. It was during one of those scrolls that I stumbled on a post about virginity. Something about it stirred me deeply. I felt the urge to grab my phone, find the perfect lighting in my room, hit βrecord,β and speak from the depths of my heart.
Me getting ready to defend The Faith on my snap story.
Because I believe purity, sexual purity ,is being misunderstood.
Misrepresented.
Misused.
Sexual purity, or being a virgin, is not something done for applause. Itβs not a badge of honor to flash before men or society. Itβs not a prize for validation.
Itβs Godβs will for man
1 Thessalonians 4:3 shows us that.
> 3 For this is the will of God, that you be sanctified [separated and set apart from sin]: that you abstain and back away from sexual immorality.
1 Thessalonians 4:3β4 (AMP):
It is consecration.
It is sacred. And itβs for both male and female. NO gender is exempt from this consecration .
π 1 Thessalonians 4:4 (KJV):
> "That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;"
Emphasis on the β every one of you βplease.
Itβs not a βgirl issueβ or something to weigh a woman down with shame. It is, at its core, an act of reverence to God.
Purity is not about feeling "cleaner" than others. Itβs not about avoiding the label of being βdirty.β
Itβs about fulfilling scripture.
Itβs about obeying scripture.
It's about laying your life on the solid rock, Jesus Christ.
Sadly, I believe the world has strayed from the main focus.
Even some Christians are falling for one of the devilβs biggest Ponzi schemes, convincing us that purity is outdated, unnecessary, or even oppressive.
But let me remind you: sexual purity is a shield. A shield from the enemy
Itβs a guardrail. Itβs not born out of fear or trauma. Itβs born out of reverence.
Deep, holy reverence.
Now, I need to address something that caught my eye in that post. The way purity culture has been weaponized, especially against women.
No, a womanβs worth is not tied to her virginity. Her worth is anchored in Christ. Her delicateness, her value, her future fruitfulness, none of these are determined by her sexual history.
Virginity doesnβt define whether sheβs a withered flower or a bloom in process. Her purity is simply one expression of surrender not a measuring tape for her destiny.
While I read that post, the Holy Spirit whispered a scripture to me.
Matthew 24:10 AMP
[10] At that time many will be offended and repelled [by their association with Me] and will fall away [from the One whom they should trust] and will betray one another [handing over believers to their persecutors] and will hate one another.
Matthew 24:10 NIV
[10] At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other,
It made sense of it all, of the backlash, the hate, the subtle misandry often hidden under the name of feminism, the confusion and conflict around purity culture. Itβs all just another tactic. Another subtle snare to draw believers away from their faith..
But no matter how loud the culture gets, no matter how βwokeβ the generation becomes, our standard remains the Word of God.
Thatβs our compass. Thatβs our foundation. Thatβs our truth.
Itβs our determining factor.
Trust me to always to end with a song I meditated on when writing this letter.

Very well written piece π
Louder please!!
